PLATELETS RICH PLASMA-PRP
WHAT IS PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, is a substance made from your own blood to trigger rapid healing. Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a non-surgical treatment used aesthetically to stimulate collagen. A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Because the blood is your own, there is no risk of rejection, infection or allergic response.
WHY PLATELETS REJUVENATE SKIN?
Platelets growth hormones and cytokines tell the tissues to enhance healing. When PRP is used aesthetically, it stimulates a mild inflammatory response, which triggers the healing cascade. The PRP, injected into specific areas of the skin, promotes blood flow, new cell growth, increases your own collagen, regenerates tissue, and naturally reverses signs of aging.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AND AFTER PRP PROCEDURE?
A small amount of blood is drawn from you. While the PRP is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. After the treatment, expect mild swelling, and redness, which fades within 1-3 days in most people. The PRP is made from your own cells, virtually eliminating the possibility of negative side effects.
PLATELETS RICH PLASMA-RESULTS
The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, correct dark circles under the eyes, and diminish pore size. Results begin to show 3-4 weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time.
PRP may be used as an injection only, or combined with Micro-needling for better results. For full benefit 3-6 treatments are recommended.
PRP injections are not recommended for individuals with bleeding disorders, those taking anti-coagulation medications (e.g. Coumadin), or those who have cancer, active infections, or are pregnant.
